Dollfie/Obitsu Brief Type Underwear Pattern for Males and Females
Fabric Suggestions:
An old t-shirt, or a thin stretchy fabric.
Instructions:
1. Measure the doll's waist where the waist of the undergarment will sit. Print the pattern to a scale that will have the waist line (the measurement in between the seam lines) measurement of your doll. The scale of the side seams and leg holes should fit if done in equal proportion of length and width.
2. Place pattern on fabric with the grain running so that the most stretch is given horizontally along the waist band. This will allow the undergarment to stretch a bit over the hip joints and still fit well once in place. Cut out the shape of the pattern
3. On the positive side of the fabric, lightly draw with tailor's chalk or light pencil the lines on the front of the undergarment. Use these lines as guides to embroider thick flat lines for the groin lines and front opening (details for men's underwear). Sew the middle opening line toward the right (toward the doll's right hand) groin line. Then sew on the right and left groin lines, hiding the middle line's end under the right groin line. For women's/girls underwear, you embroider all sorts of other cute details.
4. Fold and sew each leg hole seam with a straight stitch. (This might be easier and look better to do by hand because of the scale).Then go over the positive side of the fabric with the same embroidered line used to define the groin lines.
5. Fold over the waist band and sew the seam with the straight stitch. If you want to add waist band elastic inside the waist seam, sting it through now and secure at each open end of the side seams with a small stitch.
6. Sew side seams to close up the undergarment. At this point you can size the garment to the doll. Give and take away the side seams as needed to get a good fit and still be able to put on and remove the garment. If needed, use small precision scissors to cut away excess material from the side seams so that the garment fits smoothly. Your briefs are done.
